Stealing from Children's Miracle Network

Moore, OK - You can't be a bigger Scrooge at Christmas time than to steal from kids in need. Well, that's exactly what court papers allege one man did in early November.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Cleveland County last Friday, Thomas Alan Brown, 33, was caught on tape stealing a Children's Miracle Network donation canister.

It seems Brown was employeed by Flair Body Works located in Moore. As many businesses do, FBW had a Children's Miracle Network donation can sitting on the front counter. There, customers and employees would donate their spare change in hopes of bringing joy to needy children this holiday season.

It also seems that FBW had been experiencing some petty theft from time to time. So, the owner installed a hidden camera.

On November 7 the owner of FBW noticed the donation canister missing. So, he checked the covert video and reportedly saw Brown enter the area, check the coast was clear, and then exit with the donations.

The owner of FBW reported that about $300 cash was inside the can.

On December 8, charges were filed and an arrest warrant issued for Brown.

If karma exists, Brown is in for a not so jolly Christmas.

UPDATE: On 5/29/07 Brown pled guilty and was given a 6-month suspended sentence and fines.
